Agadir to Marrakech by Motorbike — The Complete Road Trip Guide
The road between Agadir and Marrakech is one of the finest motorcycle rides in Morocco — and one of the most underrated. At roughly 250 km by the fastest route, it sits in a comfortable range for a single long day or a relaxed two-day ride with an overnight in Taroudant or at a riad in the foothills. This guide covers both options.
Route 1: The N10 via Taroudant and Aït Benhaddou — the scenic loop
Distance: ~380 km · Duration: 2 days recommended · Difficulty: moderate · Best bike: CF Moto MT450
After Taroudant, the road climbs east through Aoulouz and into the Anti-Atlas towards Tazenakht. The landscape becomes increasingly dramatic — saffron fields, argan trees giving way to sparse scrub, and the road cutting through dry riverbeds. From Tazenakht you head north on the N9 towards Ouarzazate and Aït Benhaddou (a UNESCO kasbah that has appeared in more films than most actors). From Aït Benhaddou the Tizi n'Tichka pass takes you up to 2,260 metres through the High Atlas before the final descent to Marrakech.
Route 2: The direct route via Chichaoua — fast tarmac, one day

If you need to reach Marrakech in one day, the direct route via Chichaoua and the N1/A1 is straightforward and fast. The road is good quality dual carriageway for most of its length. It is not the most scenic ride in Morocco, but it is reliable, efficient, and leaves you time to explore Marrakech in the afternoon.
Even on the direct route, the section climbing out of Agadir and the descent into the Marrakech plain offer good riding. Keep an eye on fuel — there are service stations in Chichaoua (halfway) so there is no need to stop elsewhere if you leave Agadir with a full tank.
The Tizi n'Test pass — the spectacular alternative
Distance: adds ~30 km vs direct · Difficulty: challenging · Best bike: CF Moto MT450 — experienced riders only
For riders with real mountain experience, the Tizi n'Test (2,092 m) is the finest mountain road in southern Morocco. The road is narrow, the drops are serious, and there is no guardrail for long sections — but the view from the top across the Souss Valley to the Atlantic on a clear day is extraordinary. Allow extra time and take it only if conditions are dry.
VOGE 300 Rally — la moto trail d'accès
La VOGE 300 Rally, c'est là que les choses deviennent vraiment intéressantes. C'est une moto trail rally légère — pas un jouet, mais pas non plus une machine d'aventure intimidante. Les pilotes titulaires d'un permis moto et ayant quelques kilomètres de route au compteur s'y sentent vite à l'aise.
Sa légèreté facilite la conduite sur la route sinueuse vers la Vallée du Paradis et jusqu'à Immouzzer, et c'est une excellente moto pour quiconque découvre le trail pour la première fois. Overnight stops
- Taroudant: the best base for the southern route. Several good riads in the medina in the €40–70/night range; excellent tajines in the central square.
- Aït Benhaddou: several guesthouses on the approach road to the kasbah. Touristy but convenient for an early morning visit before the tour buses arrive.
- Ouarzazate: larger city with more options if you want reliable Wi-Fi and a proper hotel dinner.
