The road up through Tamraght and into the Ameur Valley towards Paradise Valley is arguably the most popular day trip from Agadir. 3. Agadir to Immouzzer des Ida Outanane — the switchback climb

One of the best riding roads in the south. From Agadir you head northeast through increasingly lush argan and almond groves before the road starts its climb to the mountain village of Immouzzer. The switchbacks near the top reward you with views across the entire Souss Valley. Seasonal waterfalls run between February and April. The road is entirely paved but narrow in places, so take it at your own pace.
4. Agadir to Taroudant — the Souss Valley loop
Distance: ~80 km each way · Difficulty: easy · Best bike: any — good touring route
Taroudant is sometimes called the "grandmother of Marrakech" for its intact rose-pink ramparts and traditional souk. The road across the flat Souss Valley is one of the few genuinely easy routes in southern Morocco: wide, straight and fast. Leave early to walk the walls and browse the market before riding back. Combine it with a stop at one of the argan oil cooperatives on the return leg.
5. Agadir to Souss-Massa National Park — south along the coast

Head south from the city on the coastal road towards the Souss-Massa biosphere reserve. The road passes quiet beaches and fishing villages well before the tourist infrastructure of central Agadir. Northern bald ibis nest here, and the beach at Sidi Rbat is largely deserted even in summer. A good short-ride option for anyone who wants coastline without traffic.
6. Agadir to Essaouira — the Atlantic highway

Morocco's most celebrated coastal road. The road there winds through Berber villages and one of the best passes in the south: the road through Tiznit or via the Ameln Valley is entirely paved but demanding. Plan for an overnight — Tafraoute has good small hotels and the morning light on the rocks is worth staying for.
Practical tips for riding around Agadir
- Fuel up in Agadir before leaving — petrol stations become sparse once you are past Tamraght or into the Anti-Atlas.
- Carry water. Temperatures in the valley reach 35°C+ in summer; even in autumn the afternoon sun is strong.
- Watch for sand on corners, especially on coastal bends — it drifts onto the tarmac after wind.
- Traffic calms dramatically once you leave the city. The main hazards on rural roads are livestock and unmarked speed bumps in villages.
